Net Metering Update - June 10, 2019
On June 5, 2019, the Board of Light Commissioners voted to approve a new Net Metering rate tariff (MDPU 149) revising the Renewable Energy and Environmental Attributes clause that allows MMED customers to be able to participate in the Massachusetts Municipal Light Plant Solar Rebate Program. This new tariff goes into effect June 10, 2019.
Prospective solar customers must submit an application to get Preliminary approval. Once authorized, a customer will have six months to install and have the system approved for Final Acceptance of the solar array for the net metering program. Customers already receiving net metering service under the Department's Net Metering rates MDPU 134 & 147 will continue to receive service under those tariffs, which are closed to new customers as of July 01, 2017 and July 01, 2019 (effective dates of the new tariff).
